Rubia Pigmenta Naturalia manages and guides the entire process, from the initial plant material, the cuttings, up to and including the final product, the powder-type colouring extract. The company's own cuttings are propagated under licence by a professional cultivation company and then made available, again under licence, to madder cultivators from the cultivation organisation. After two years, the madder plants are ready to be harvested. After harvesting, the madder roots are washed at a central location, dried and crushed. The crushed roots are then processed, which takes place in several stages:
